Bearded Dragon injured

Question
Hi, about a week ago my young bearded dragon, approx. 6 months old jumped/fell off of my arm and onto a carpeted floor.  He landed on his back and was shaking.  I put him back in his cage and he is not moving very well to this day.  Seems to have a broken rear leg.  He can move around (not very far or very well), but won't climb on his perch like he had done all of the time and can't chase after his crickets.  He's eating about 2-3 crickets a day and won't eat much of the greens/strawberries I tried feeding him and I don't know if he's drinking his water.  He seems to sleep a lot.  I guess I'm wondering if these lizards tend to heal on their own if it is just a broken leg?  Something else I noticed was that the end of his tail (2 inches) tend to turn dark gray/black once in a while and I've never noticed the color change before unless he's shedding, which he just did before he fell off my arm.  Any advice or tips you can give is much appreciated.  Thanks!

Answer
Hello Allison,

Oh no, I am very sorry to hear that!
Is there any swelling of his rear leg at all, or anything that appears to be discoloration?  Can you post a picture of him for me, that might help.
If his leg is broken, it would heal back, but just like with humans, it would heal crooked.  If it is not broken, he might have just hurt it but not broken it.
I would go ahead & move his basking branch down to the ground so he doesn't have to climb at all & irritate the injury.  Just remember to move the lights down to the appropriate distance as well.
If the tip of his tail or a little further up is dark, that can be an indication of pain or distress from the injury.
Is his beard black?
Are you using a UVB light, & if so, what type & brand are you using?  Do you use calcium supplementation?

I sell a product called Serrapeptase, which is silkworm enzyme.  It helps with pain, swelling & injuries.  You might consider giving that a try to help manage pain.  Here is my site if you want to read about it, as I have a few articles on it.

Let me know how he is doing.
