Question
Hello,

My name is Wesley I am from Holland. I have an question about my axolotl.
My axolotl is store bought and the shopkeeper said he whas "adult" I don't know how old he is and when I bought him he was an bit damaged ( eaten, etc. ) and a month or two later he looks very fine in my aquarium along with three other axolotl who are pefectly fine.

Now he keeps his head upwards for four or three days now and I am afraid something is wrong. Sometimes he gets on his back or on his side.
I always put him back on his feet because I am scared me might die if he stays upside down.

The water temperture is fine its 20-25 degrees ( Celcius ) and the pH is good too. I feed him two worms every two days like: Monday - Wednesday - Friday - Sunday.

But he keeps his head upwards for some reason and I have no idea what to do. Could you please give me some information about what it might be?

He also eats slow, but he does eat. He used to eat them really fast.

Please help me, I am afraid he might be sick or worse.

Yours sincerly,

Wesley

Answer
Hello Wesley,

Would it be possible to post a picture of him?
I don't know tons about Axolotls, but they are pretty cool looking.
The temperature may be a little high.  The optimal temperatures for them are 16-20C so maybe try lowering the temperatures just a little bit.
Does he appear heat stressed at all?
Also, since he did come to you injured, it is possible that he suffered from a head trauma perhaps.  How extensive were his injuries to him when you got him?
What do you feed him currently?
