Going on Vacation - Chinese Water Dragon

I have a dragon that's about 8 months old.  We are going on vacation for about 8 days and don't know what to do about leaving Chico behind.  How long can he go without food?  Can I load his "room" with crickets and let him have at it.  The biggest problem is we just moved here and don't know anyone that can take care him.  Any suggestions would be very helpful.  Thank you.

 Have you found a good reptile vet?  Some will board your Dragon while you are gone.  Or one of his vet techs may do it for a fee.  There may be a reptile rescue who will mind your Dragon for a donation, or a herpetological society may have a member willing to dragon-sit.
