Question
Is there such a thing as fading lizard syndrome in baby dragons ? i had 2 clutches hatch out from 2 differnt females the 1 clutch did good all survived the other clutch not so good the babies would hatch out ok but never really came around, was weak , died 2-3 days later?

Answer
It is probably the weakened genetics of the one mother.  Unfortunately, almost all dragons in this country have been inbred and only in the last decade has new genetic stock come in through other countries.  Many large breeders who have a certain color line did the most damage, producing genetically weakened stock...highly colored, but smaller in size and susceptible to disease and lethal genetic disorders.  What may have happened is that the father and the second mother were carriers of a lethal recessive trait
which the first mother did not have. The babies from mom #1 are now also carriers but no not show the trait, however the babies from dad and mom #2 got the lethal pairing and died as a result.
There is another, scarier reason.  There is the chance of mom #2 being a carrier of adenovirus.  There is a detailed article on this in Reptilerooms.com.  I would seriously consider going to that site, read all the information, and perhaps having your beardies tested.
