german shepherd delivery

hi i have a 3 year old German shepherd, i felt her pups inside her Friday they were turning, however 2 have felt quite high up in her ribs, she delivered one at 5.50 am next at 8 am then again at 9am it is now 10.50pm and she has only had 3 is this normal for a German shepherd? i am not sure if she has any more i cant feel any low down at all, she is showing no signs of distress or discomfort, but at 6pm she looked like she was having a couple of contractions but it only lasted 5 mins then nothing. what do you think? thank you xx

Hi Susie. I would take her into the vet for a check up. They may give her a clean out shot, which is probably what's needed. He may also suggest an x-ray to make sure that there's no more puppies in there. This is the safest route to take. If there is still something inside of her, it can set up a really nasty infection. You breed usually has between 8-10 puppies. That's not saying she couldn't have a smaller litter though.
