Question
I just got a dog from the pound  today. Hes 2 yrs old and he hasnt peed all day even thought he has drank plenty of water and has eaten food

Answer
Dogs get stressed out just like people do.  Because he came from the pound and is now in a new environment, give him a little while to adjust.  He may have also gone before he went home with you.  If he still hasn't urinated by tomorrow morning, call your local veterinarian to make an appointment.  I would bet with some TLC and little relaxation he'll be peeing in no time!  Male dogs don't typically get "blocked" like male cats, although anything is possible. Signs of trouble urinating would be straining to urinate, with little or no urine output.  If he is having straining, then I suggest taking him to a vet as soon as possible, otherwise, let him get used to his new home and to you.  Take him outside (yard, etc) every hour and see if maybe he needs a little reassurance on where to go.  Good for you for adopting and I hope you guys have many great years together.  Please do call your vet if he hasn't gone by morning or if he is straining.

Best of luck,
Laura
