Question
I have a brittney spaniel who recently developed a limp in her front left leg, the vet can not find anything wrong and her foot is tender and sometimes appears swollen. She is 7 years old and is a retired hunting dog, I have only had her for a month or so. I have requested a medical history from the previous owners but they have not contacted me - i did this three weeks ago. I am wondering if there is anything I can do I have heard of putting a lukewarm tea bag on it or a cold compress but have only tried a wrap as of yet and nothing appears to work. I have also been told by my vet to take her for three 15 minute walks or runs a day but she is not getting any better. She seems to be in pain as she wont get up without someone calling her and her eyes are all watery and bloodshot. Is it time to find a new vet or is there something I can do at home?

Answer
Hi Melissa,

Gee!  I'm not sure this is a chiropractic issue - but it COULD be!  The cold compress sounds right to me, but the bloodshot eyes are a concern.  Maybe it is time to se a different vet - just for another opinion.

If you need to find a chiropractor, go to avcadoctors.com for a referral.

I'm sorry I can't help more.  I wish I could get my hands on your dog!  Good luck - and I'm here if you have more questions.
