Cant create a folder??

For some weird reason I can no longer right click and select "New" then "Folder". This applies to everything...desktop, in Win Explorer or a sub folder in Win Explorer. I have Win 98 SE.
Is there a quick fix or am I looking at a reformat? (Hopefully a quicky :)

Hi!  You are actually asking this question under the wrong catagory.  I am in the catagory for dogs and pets.  I'm not in computer help.  However, below is an article I found on this issue.  I hope it helps you in some way.  Best of luck to you!

This is a registry problem that can happen after updates are made to IE or Windows. This requires you to go into your machines registry to fix the problem. If you have never done this then be careful,

Click on start, select Run, type in Regedit. Find the following key"

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\New

If you cannot find this key then you will need to create it.

Once you have found the key or created it then on the right hand side of the windows registry right click and select New, select String Value, it should be called default once its created.

Now its been created or already there, right click on the item and select modify add the following value into the value data option;

{D969A300-E7FF-11d0-A93B-00A0C90F2719}

Cut and paste this value into the window to save getting it wrong if you try typing it in.

Once your done, shutdown and reboot the PC. Hopefully all is well again and your New command returns.

If your not comfortable messing in the registry then get some help from a pc guru. Its not too difficult and this wont kill your wife's computer.
