Question
Hi Chris!

I have a Boxer/Pit mix about 10 months old and 85 pounds. He is a great dog, loves people, trained very well(except this one issue!)and very lovable! He never really distructively chewed anything like shoes, couches or tables. He does love to chew on blankets- or cloth of anykind! He has destroyed everything that was in his crate. I tried the bitters spray on the blankets and he seems to not be bothered by it. I have had people tell me its because he is bored in his crate. . . he is only in the crate for about 3 hours at a time. I have tried just about every type of bone/toy/treat and he distroys them all! even the plastic kong toys, the tug of war cloth toys, everything!I just dont know what I can possibly give him that he wont completely devour besides a huge tree stump! LOL He also has a habbit of chewing on his "privates". . . I have one heck of a strange dog!!
Hoping you have some kind of info on this one!

Answer
If he's only in his crate for about 3 hours, then he certainly isn't in there overly long.  He really doesn't need to have any blankets or cloth of any kind in there; after all, dogs are quite comfortable laying on tile and hardwood floors, so they don't have to have something soft to lay on.

When you say plastic Kong toys, do you mean those hard rubber ones, such as:

I have not heard of any dog being able to actually destroy one of those.  And, again, since he isn't in the crate that long, as opposed to a dog that has to stay in there for 8 hours while the owner is at work, why not just put him in there without a chew toy?

As far as his "privates," if he's chewing on them and making them raw, sore, or irritated, I think I would contact your vet for advice.
