Frequent Urination

Question
We have a male puppy, he is about six months old. He urinates frequently. He can hold it and not need to go out for several hours,  that is  not the problem. Any time he gets the least bit excited or we try to discipline him at all he pees everywhere, I'm talking sometimes in five different areas, it is never a lot of pee, but it gets hard to deal with, i don't want him continuing to pee all over the house. Do you have any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Mandy;
Did you neuter him?
This is a marking trait, and this will not stop until he is fixed for sure.
Then, stop allowing him to be in the house that long. Put him out for more time than in...this will give him the reversal, that his territory is outside, not in.
Also, when he pees when you scold him, he is being submissive to you.
So, instead of the tone you are using, ask him what you want him to do,
Give him a short command, say go potty outside ( his name).
This will give him the idea of what you want, instead of getting angry and getting him to submit to your "pack leader" tone.
It takes practice, and patience.
Best wishes,
Melissa
