Hello my is sara and my fiance and I found a dachshund smooth coat dog on the street near by our apartment. We had noticed that the penis area is swollen and is darker on the tip, he is releasing some discharge clear plus it smells really bad. He is such a good dog and we just want the best for him so if you can please help me.

I cannot really tell what exactly is wrong with his penis, it could be normal for him, males dogs produce smegma which is a normal discharge. if you are concerned take him to the vet. Otherwise just keep a close eye on it and bathe with lukewarm water twice a day, if he has trouble urinating or seems uncomfortable and bothered by it take him to the vet.
more importantly. you need to take this dog to either the pound or the council ranger. The owner is probably looking for their dog and they will not find it in your backyard. If you want to keep the dog you can notify the pound of this and you will be able to adopt the dog once all reasonable efforts have been made to find the owner. He may also be microchipped. please do your best to find his family before making him a part of yours.
