peeing & pooping

Question
We rescued a 1 1/2 yr old miniature dachshund from the humane society. We have a full size the same age.  we take the little one out does his business and will come back in and pee. if I take my eyes off him he will pee or poop and a few times peed while looking at me. I have tries caging him at night and before he hits the door in the morning he tries to pee in the house. i don't know what to do.

Alan,
you will have to remain outside until he pees.  Then praise and treat him as if he saved your life.  Also, for a little while I would bring him back in and crate him.  When you take him out of the crate carrying him to the outside quickly, he will probably have to go pretty badly then and won't be able to control his bladder in excitement.
Also, if he seems to go a lot have him checked for an infections.  Sometimes an infection will cause frequent urination.
