Question
Hello.I have a 6.5 yr. old male boxer.when i first got him i put him on a large breed dog food.Well,I then moved to my grandparents with the dog when he was about 2yrs..When I moved back home I didn't have a place to keep him so he stayed there for 4 years. They have been feeding him Pedigree small bites.I just got him back.he is so pretty but doesn't seem to be quite as built as he used too be,but he is still in very good shape.my main question is his teeth. He has small teeth.very small for that big of a dog.his k-9's are o.k. but I think they should be bigger.i have just switched him back to large breed (Pedigree).Do you think the small breed dog food he has been getting fed could have something to do with that, and if so at this age would the switching of the food help the teeth,I'm pretty sure it will help with his muscleing up a liitle along with excecise. He ways 66.8lbs no fat. What large breed dog food do you think would be best for him.He also grinds his teeth sometimes it almost sounds like he is chewing food when he is sleeping, even growls and lets of a semi bark that is high pitch.I figure that's just him dreaming though.i also have a cat.they seem to be o.k now,are they aggressive towards cats?thank you so much.I look forward to hearing from you.

Answer
Hi,
Teeth can be worn down from bones and grinding, not usually from food unless it is very hard (which the small bites is not).  Teeth are also genetic.  You might want to have a vet look at him to see if he actually got his adult teeth.
As far as cats go, I would watch him to make sure he stays nice,  right now he may not be territorial, because he has not been there, but that may change.
AS far as dog food,  I like Iams for big dogs and Bill Jack is best for show dogs.  Bill Jack does it's own packaging so they have the best quality control
good luck
