my 6yr old boxer has thrown up yellow foamy sick but it has 3 little blood clots in it do you think this could be serious as he hasn't done this before.

The yellow foamy nature of the vomit just means your dog's stomach was empty at the time, by itself it isn't a symptom of anything serious. Since your dog's vomit contained a little blood, it would be best to have your veterinarian examine him.

The blood may have been present if your dog was straining to vomit, or it can be a sign of something more serious. Blood is may be seen with stomach ulcers, stomach cancer or uremia (a collection of signs including vomiting seen in pets with kidney failure).
