burs on shih tsu

we went camping and our shih tsu is covered with burs. we have bathed and brushed until he wont let us. Is there anything we can use to get them out. we really dont want to shave him thank you in advance for any advice you can give.

Hello Carla,  You are doing what I would do brush, brush and more brushing.  Unfortunately there is no other way, of course other than what you do not want to do and that would be to shave him.  Maybe if you use thinning shears where the burs are they would brush out a little more easier.  Remember when using thinning shears snip no more than 3 times in the same spot or it will completely cut the hair.  Good luck and thanks for asking.  Cindy Lou :)
