Question
I think my do is pregnant, if she is what are some signs? If I calculate correctly she should be 4 weeks. My questions now is, I notice my dog eating her poop, right after she does to the bathroom, is that ok? Is that what dog do when they are pregnant? Also she is not eating her food, she wants to eat what I am eating, is that ok?

Answer
Tonya, Tonya, Tonya. Perhaps the most visible sign that a dog is pregnant is the fact that it gets fatter. Her nipples will also begin to enlarge, the closer she gets to her due date (which, if she is 4 weeks along, should be in about another 4 weeks). Her appetite should increase dramatically, as well. Your absolute best way to know if she's pregnant, though, is to take her to the vet. She needs to have vet care, anyway, if she IS pregnant, so that would be the first thing I would recommend. She may also simply be suffering from a false pregnancy, which has all the signs of a real pregnancy, but does not result in puppies. Only your vet can tell you for sure.

I would highly recommend that you have your dog spayed as soon as possible. Hopefully she is NOT pregnant now, and you can talk to your vet about when it is a good time to have the procedure done. Then you won't ever have to worry about this again.

It is not okay to feed your dog whatever you are eating, though it is pretty normal for a dog to want what you have. My advice is to ignore her while you're eating, or put her in another room.

Stool eating, which is also called cophragia, is mostly seen in puppies, but adult dogs can do it as well. No one really knows why they do it, but it >could< indicate a nutritional deficiency. What kind of dog food do you feed her, and how much? What breed is she, and how old is she?

The easiest way to stop stool eating is to take her out to potty on leash, and get her away from it before she has a chance to eat it, and then immediately pick it up and dispose of it.
