Question
My Boston Terrier has a large blistering bump on her butt.  What might this be and does it require immediate medical attention?

Answer
Hi Michael,

While I can't identify the kind of growth your dog has, I can tell you that dogs can develop many kinds of growths/cysts, many of which are benign and only require removal if the location of the cyst becomes a problem. Just like with people, it's a good idea to have unusual lumps examined when they persist.

In answer to your question, this probably isn't a medical emergency that needs immediate treatment. Give it a week or two, and see if it goes away. If it's still there after that time period, then having it examined is the best thing for your dog, and for you!

Best of luck,
Patti
