Question
My  dog has had her anal glands expressed and still scoots.  Also;  she seems very anxious these past few days. Thanks for  any help available

Answer
Anal glands fill back up within a few days, so if she is having a problem with them, they may need expressing again. It is also possible that they have gotten infected or were not fully expressed the first time. If they were expressed by anyone other than a veterinarian, you should probably take her in and have the vet look at them. I think anal gland problems can get painful, so that could be why she seems anxious.

Also one of our agility dogs has a couple recurring problems with her vertebrae and needs to be adjusted on a regular basis by a veterinary chiropractor. One of the ways she tells us she is having pain issues with this is by sitting quickly and trying to bite\lick at her rear, as if her anal glands were bothering her.

Does your dog do full yawns, and full body shakes from nose to tail? Or does she abort those in the middle of doing them? Is her body (spine) and tail in a straight line from her nose? Or does it curve to the right or left? If you answer yes to any of those, her problem may not be anal glands at all. http://www.avcadoctors.com/search_for_avca_certified_doctor.htm
