Clomipramine for Fearful Pit w/ Fear Aggression

Question
We adopted  pit mix in Oct. Very little is known about her past, other than she seems to have been abused; and she very fearful. She has jumped our fence once and tried several other times as people/kids go by. I am extremely concerned. The person who originally found her is a vet. She recommended Clomipramine for the fear/aggression.  She licks her feet constantly- almost OCD like and is BEYOND food aggressive with my other dogs. We now feed her in a separate room and The Good Lord forbid one of them find a tid bit in the floor.  She will go after them.  She just turned 1 in December.
When I walk her, she is very scared, so I try to walk her at night...she panics when she sees or hears any type of vehicle. She shook when I stopped to talk to a guy who was interested in her and did not lunge @ him, but she did bark, when he said "hi sweetie" to her.
From what I have read about the medication, it sounds good to use, however, I hate resorting to a medication.  Can I please have your input?
Thanks!
Sam

Answer
Hi Samantha,  Thank you for adopting!
Yes, you will not be able to work with her unless you take the edge off with medication.
Here is a link that explains this medication in detail but EASY to understand:

You also need to keep your family and other pets safe.
I think you Vet has chosen a good option for your and your Anxious and Fearful doggie.

Happy Holidays to you all!

Keep me posted...
