3 inch circular bruise w/scab

I have a bullmastiff about 4 years old who has a 3 inch bruise on her rear right leg on the hip it is scabed over and it looks as if she picks at it because it ooses some times. is this a hot spot and what can i do

Hi Darrin,  Yes that sounds like a hot spot.  You can get some over-the-counter medication just for hot spots.  You don't want her to keep irritating it as it just makes the hot spot worse and can make it spread.  You can purchase an Elizabethan collar, at any pet store, that will keep her from getting to the sore.  As far as treating it, using warm compresses on it to get the puss out, and then putting medication on it is the best way to get rid of it.  Hope this helps, and good luck.
