We are crate training our pup.  We just took her home 2 days ago and she already loves her crate.  My question is about the middle of the night.  She didn't whine the first night and peed in her crate.  The second night I woke my husband up at 4:30 to take her out.  She peed then outside and not in her crate.  If she won't whine to go out in the middle of the night, how do we prevent accidents and teach her properly?

She should be able to go all night before too long.  You may need to keep getting up if she doesn't wake you.  To help her make it overnight, make sure she walks around a bit on her last trip out.  A little exercise and she may eliminate again.  Take the water up a 7 PM.  sounds like you are doing OK.
