Question
Hello Charlotte!

We have an eight month old dachshund who is a total joy.  He's sweet, loving, gets along well with our other dog, and generally loves people.  We have had great success crate training him and with training in general.  However, we are having a consistent peeing problem.  He doesn't mess in the house (unless we've been neglectful in letting him out frequently enough.)  The major issue we have is that almost EVERY time we pick him up - he pees.  Which causes problems when we catch him in the act of messing, etc.  We can't pick him up to put him outside.  Even if he's just relaxing with us and we want to pick him up to hold him he piddles.  We don't know how to combat this problem, as we don't want piddle everywhere so can't say, get him used to being picked up.  Do you have any suggestions for us?  We're sort of at our wits' ends...

Thank you!

Answer
Hi Erica;
I would deffinately have him seen by a Veterinarian.
This sounds like a kidney problem. Possible a kidney that didn't develope right.
It sounds like when you put pressure on his stomach, his kidneys act.
From what you are telling me, it definately sounds like a medical problem.
