dog bad havior

hi my eight month old jack russell, did something that totally took me out of place. he killed my cockatail and then ate her. Why would a dog do such a thing?

I am very sorry that happened.  It is an overused expression, but this is a true case of it being in his DNA.  At heart, they are all still wolves needing to kill for their food.  A high prey drive is more common in some breeds than others.  It is quite common in all the terriers.  Given a chance, he may kill and eat other things too.
