grooming problem shetie mix

Question
I took our meedium-long coated sheltie mix to the groomer we normally use and specifically told them that he would be in our wedding in 2 days and not to cut too short or cut around his tail or face. Horrifyingly, they shaved his coat nearly down to the skin and aside from being shocked at the sight of him I am now wondering if this will cause any health issues since he is obviously supposed to have fur. He has been scratching and licking alot since yesterday.

Answer
Hi Laura and thanks for your question.

Congrats on your wedding :)

It should not cause any health problems for you sheltie to be shaved, but it is odd that they would do that when you told them how you wanted him to be groomed.

Some times, after a dog has been clipped short, it feels funny and this can cause them to lick and scratch at themselves, but as long as they don't create a sore, he should be fine.
