Question
recently my Italian greyhound has had an ear that is bugging him......I'm thinking that it might be mites but there is nothing in his ear.....it has a strange odor. it's not strong. but you can definitely tell that it is sore what do i do?

Answer
Hello Mason, Usually if your dog has ear mites it would appear that your dog has coffee grounds in his ear.  This can be treated with mineral oil.  Treat 2 to three times a day with a few drops and clean afterwards, using alcohol and q-tips or cotton balls.  If it is red and smells with no coffee ground like substance, then it probably is an ear infection that can only be cured with antibiotics that you get from the vet, Sorry.  Good Luck and Thanks for asking, Cindy Lou :)
