matilda I was wondering if you could help what my dog might be mixed with? I got her from an animal shelter in canada but came from lousiana-and we have all been stumped as to what she might be mixed with.She is around 30 pounds

Hi Crystal,

It's hard to figure out what dog breeds some dogs are a mixture of. Many dogs are not the product of two purebreds that have mated. It's entirely possible that Matilda is the product of several generations of mixed breed dogs breeding.

Dogs that are descended from many generations of mixed breeds are typically light brown or black and weigh about 14-18 kg (30-40 lb). They typically stand between 38 and 57 cm (15 and 23 inches) tall at the shoulder.

It looks as though Matilda may have some Chihuahua and possibly Rat Terrier in her. If you'd like to know exactly which breeds Matilda is descended from, there are genetic tests that can tell you. Read more about this here:

Matilda looks like a sweet girl. Whatever her heritage may be, I'm sure she's a totally unique 100% wonderful dog!
