Question

Dog Back
Please Help!
I have a 4 year miniature schnauzer. I noticed a few days ago that the hair on his back has gotten dark within an 8inch oval. I combed the hair and it came out in clumps. Now i can see through it and see his skin.  I dont know what to try.

Answer
Hello Nadia;
Your dog could have mange or ringworm...or other skin problems due to an infestation!
Or, he could have a skin problem due to a number of internal problems..
Either way, you need to take him to your Vet, and have him examined for Skin Parasites, and or fleas/ringworm.
This is inexpensive, and well worth it.
If this is the case, the vet will give you some medication, and soap to bathe your dog.
This is the best and fastest way to get the dog some help.
Trying over the counter remedies without doing a Scrape "Test" is a shot in the dark!
So, get your dog to the Vet asap.
Let me know how you do,
Best regards,
Melissa
