How do I know if my dog is expecting?

19 11:50:45

Question
QUESTION: We have all of a sudden noticed that our dogs teats are getting bigger. I squeezed all 10 of them last night and they have milk coming from them. I was wondering if this means our dog is expecting? I know that sounds stupid but she was in heat about 2 months ago and we were not aware of her interacting with a male dog at all. If she is pregnant then does this mean that because the milk is there then we will be having puppies very soon? Please let me know and thank you in advance for any and all help that you can give us.
ANSWER: kim,
she could be expecting, but if you are sure she was not near a male dog, she may be having a false pregnancy.  She will have all symptoms of a regular pregnancy.  You may want to take her to the vet to be sure.

QUESTION: So with a false pregnancy she would have milk in her?
ANSWER: yes and she may adopt a stuffed animal, as her baby, however, if there is any possibility she was with a male, she could be pregnant, but you say no male, right?

QUESTION: We do not know for sure that she was not with a male however we do put her outside on a lead in the front yard. So it is possible that she was with one. I was just wondering if it could be false even though she has milk. Thanks

Answer
if she was left unattended while in heat, you can probably count on puppies.  Males can smell a dog in heat up to two miles away off the feet of other animals that pass by her.  But if she is having a false pregnancy, she will have milk, my females go through that every time they come into heat.
