Question
QUESTION: I have a 12 year old mixed mutt. she has been on Metacam for 12 months now and has been doing great. Recently she has been really tired all the time, and just not herself. I have taken yet to the vets and they did blood work. The blood work showed that her liver levels were high, and that her stomach is very sore. My question is could the Metacam that she has been on cause her liver levels to be high, and also make her stomach so sore.
Thank you for helping.

ANSWER: Yes, these symptoms could be related to the Metacam.

QUESTION: Can excessive panting from a dog mean that she is in pain?
Also can we reverse the damage that was caused by the Metacam?

Answer
Excessive panting is generally due to environmental changes, but in some instances can be due to physical issues. I don't know that I have ever heard of it being due to pain, although it can be the result of stress. http://www.petplace.com/dogs/panting-in-dogs-is-it-normal/page1.aspx

As to reversing any possible damage caused by Metacam, that is a question for your veterinarian and/or the manufacturer of the product; it is definitely beyond my expertise as I am not a veterinarian nor a pharmacist.
