Overweight Chihuahua developed a bad habit

Question
I wrote to you just before Christmas about my new 4 year old Chihuahua that was double the weight she should be. With your advice, she lost 1/2 lb. in the first 2 weeks...Thank You! She is still loosing the weight, but she has started to lick her front paw (only one) when she is going to sleep at night, especially. Is this because of the changes in her life...the new home, new diet, etc.? Or is this something I should be concerned about and take her to our vet? Also, since her diet changed, she yelps every time she poops. Does her system just need to adjust to the new diet? Should I try a different food, mix canned with the crunchy, or just add water to the crunchy food?

Answer
Hi Mary Lou, So glad you took my advice and it's working!  I love to get feedback !
I wonder if we need to add a little more fiber to her diet?
How about giving her some Kellog's All Bran cereal?  I know it sounds odd, but it works to keep the anal sac clear of poop.
She will only need 1/2 teaspoon 1-2 x per day.  ( Try just the 1/2 teaspoon 1 x per day to start)
Mix into some Wet canned dog food:

We have had some good luck with the Weight Loss Formula dog food:

As far as the paw licking, sound like a obsessive Compulsive behavior to reduced stress.
Keep and eye on this behvior.  Talk to you Vet if it continues more.  It may be the new home and new diet combo that has offered stress.

Keep me posted.
I hope you Ordered the NuVET Plus supplement:  if not, see here:
