my dog and soda

hello,
my name is renae and i have a 2yr old border collie mix...
my dog had gotton into some soda coke and he drank at least 5 licks of it or so... will he be ok?...is soda harmful to him like chocolate is?

Hi Renae,

Thank you for writing to me about your Border Collie.

I don't think that 5 licks will do any harm to your dog.  He might be a little hyper from the sugar and caffeine..be sure to give him plenty of water.  If you have activated charcoal or pepto bismo that would be helpful.

Keep an eye on him but I don't think that anything will happen.

If you are uncertain, you can always bring him to the vet.
