my dog has a whit mucus coming from his left eye what might this be and what shoukd I do for him

Hi Diane!
This could be a sign of infection. Take a warm wash cloth and gently clean the eye as needed.  If it continues to have a discharge, looks swollen, or if the eye itself looks red or pink, then you may want to have a Vet look at it, as he may need antibiotics to clear it up. I'd give him a day or two, and if he doesn't look better, take him to a Vet.
