Question
We are the grateful humans for a rescued Husky that was part of a group of 100 who were found undernourished at a racing kennel here in Colorado over Christmas.  Sierra was somewhat nervous and uncomfortable around any living thing the first week or so but slowly began to get comfortable with us.  She got out the front door this past Monday and ended up back at the Humane Shelter thanks to some good Samaritan.  However, since she has been back home with us she won't leave her kennel for any reason.  We have to force her out to go out to potty and when she is outside she is constantly trying to get back into our apartment.  Once inside and off leash she either gets back in her kennel or hides from everyone.  We love her dearly and want to help her because it's obvious she is scared of something but don't know what to do at this point.  She made wonderful progress the first 3 weeks with us.

Answer
Something might have happened to her when she got out, could have been anything from kids chasing her,to being near an aggressive dog in the shelter. What can help is a little coaxing with a favorite treat, such as chopped up hotdogs. Since you don't know what scared her it will be harder find a solution, but it might just take time and treats. Also giving her attention when she is outside will help as well,so she won't be afraid she will end up at the shelter again
