Question
Hi,
I have a 6 year old yorkipoo who is a male. He is very affectionate and loveable and has been the center of attention in my family, both immediate and extended. I recently (a day ago) to be exact got a lhasapoo (female). None of the dogs are fixd because she is too young and he was the only child so I really never thought about it.

She (the lhasapoo) is only 3 mos old and is very very playful - as is probably expected. I would like some advice on how to assimilate them together so they get along well and how to potty train her. Koby (the yorkipoo) is very mild tempered and calm - I guess like the old man of the house) and so they seem to clash sometimes but not too often though.

Any advice, I think I really need it..I am worried that there may be problems, or maybe I just need to give them time..

Thanks

Answer
Well the best way to introduce to dogs,is to do it slowly, even by just having them sniff through a gate, and slowly have them play with each other more,so that they can see each other as fun

As for house training, the best way is with a crate, and to keep her in there all the time, except to feed her, take her outside,to play with her,to take her somewhere ect and do that for about three weeks and slowly let her out more, and if she makes an accident back in the crate she goes for about ten days or so

Before she goes into heat,it will be a good idea to have him fixed,as sometimes males will mark in the house when another dog moves in,and fixing them reduces that, but for sure when the female is old enough she needs to be done,as heat cycles are messy and annoying and intact females are prone to a number of cancers and other health problems-also with the number of unwanted animals being killed at shelters, the last thing you want is a litter of unwanted puppies
