Bailey Missing GSP Jan
My 10 y/o Bailey has been missing since Jan 24 from Holsworthy Woods, Devon. We are new to area since June and only 3rd time in woods. bailey has never disappeared like this before. Nearly 2 wks now and more than 6 sightings last weekend at bradworthy and holsworthy. Nobody attempting to get his attention and get a hold of him. I am more than distraught. Rescued him at 9 months in california, he was a stray. Flew him to UK with me. He has been at my side for years. He is a scavenger, problems with him stealing food off plates and going in bins. Stubborn also but idolized me. I'm curious to know how long a 10 year old pointer can last out there. He suffered with high anxiety and hates loud noises. he was hit by a car at 2 y/o. I want to believe he is a survivor and its in their blood to keep moving, but I've had no sightings in 5 days and very concerned he's collapsed in woods. Sightings may be few and far between because of extensive woods and farmers fields in the area. How long can he survive. What should i do to get him back to the area he was last seen. I can put out his dog house with a jumper of mine in it. The waiting and not knowing is heart breaking and very stressful. I miss him more than anything and hope to god he's alive.
AnswerFirst it is possible that animal control might have picked him up,so try looking at every animal control or shelter in your area just in case. Also someone might have taken him in,not knowing he had a family so it might be a good idea to make fliers. Another thing you might want to try is to see if you can rent a large cage trap,and bait him with his favorite food.It all depends on if he can find food,water and shelter on how long he will survive. Some dog survive for months,so don't give up hope yet and good luck finding your friend
