Question
QUESTION: Hi I have had it with my dogs barking I don't have alot fot tiem or moeny or paciance for training but that don't mean I want to get rid of my dogs(thou if this keeps up they've got to go somewhere!)

My dogs have been with me since puppies they are now 4 and 5 years old, the problem is when they are outside even sometimes just after closing the door they star barking..half the time I'll go uot look over the fence and up for any birds or squierls and there is nothing there, nothing moving... nothing to be seen or heard for a block! I like my dogs to spend sometime outdoors during the nicer months because the cold canadian winters mean they must mostly be inside during winter. I am ready to get two barking collars and was wondering if the petsafe anti bark Shock collars work well? I only want the dogs to wear them when outside...they rarely bark inside. I just dont want to waste the money if they aren't going to work...I was reading the package at walmart the other day and it syas that the dogs other collar must be removed because the dangle of the tags can set off the collar?   I love my dogs but I need some alone quiet time sometimes nad this is when I put them outdoors but if they wont be quiet its not really quiettime. Thanks!

ANSWER: Leah, are they barking to come back inside, or are they playing and barking at one another? Perhaps they don't WANT to be outside alone (ie: without you) and are barking in protest. Do they also bark inside the house?

If they play with each other, and make barking or growling sounds while playing, bark collars would be cruel because they would get corrected for playing. However, if they are just standing there barking for not reason, then bark collars might be a good solution for you if you absolutely have to have them outside.

I do not recommend Petsafe brand collars because they do not work well at all. The Innotek BC-200 is a good collar, that automatically adjusts to each dog and is rechargeable so you never have to buy batteries. The Dogtra YS300 is another collar I recommend. Yes, collars with tags must be taken off when the bark collar is put on because the tags can trigger the collar.

QUESTION: the one bakrs at everything that moves...everything she hears and sometime I say she barks at her tail because there is nothing to be seen or heard in the distance when she is going nuts. The other barks if he sees something o hars something he does not bark for nothing. They do not bark to come it.

Answer
Well then, if that is the case, then you might consider getting a no bark collar for your female (as long as they do not bark and growl while they are playing with each other in the yard). Just put it on her before you let them out, and take it off when they come back in. You cannot leave a collar like that on them for more than a few hours at a time.
