Question
I currently have a 16lb. male Malti-Poo and would like to get a toy anything but not a pure-bred poodle.  I am having a hard finding any in my area, Dayton, Ohio and I don't have the money to pay a fortune.  I know of a few people who have beautiful 2lb. puppies but they just lucked out in getting them.  Is there any advice you might have for me?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Cynthia,
If you aren't intereted in a pure bred, check out the local animal shelters.  You would be surprised at some of the cute puppies that show up there.  A friend of mine got an adorable shih-tzu that looked awful because it needed a haircut, and now is a beauty!  (very small too)
Also, go online and check out some rescue groups.  Almost every breed has one.  You will have to pay for shots, spay/ neuter, but it won't be near as much as buying  a puppy from a breeder.  These dogs need good homes.
Good luck and God Bless,
Becky
