Move changes dogs personality

Question
6 months ago, we moved from the house our dog has only known.  Now, he is skittish around new people, barking as he runs away.  We took him back to a family member's home where he has visited before, and he became aggressive toward the other dogs during feeding time.  He has always disliked water, but now he seems even more afraid.  He won't even walk on the grass if it's wet.  He used to be a good guard dog, barking when something wasn't right; but now, he just seems afraid of everything.  What can I do to help him adjust to his surroundings?

P.S. We have another dog that has coped well with the move.  Before we moved, we thought having two dogs would help each adapt to the change.

Answer
hi Amanda,
I have seen this happen before, and sometimes it just takes longer, but other times it takes too long.  I would suggest you go to the vet and see if he will put him on some prozac for a short time until the anxiety stops.  I have seen this work very well.  It just kind of hurries things along.  Or he may choose a mild tranquilizer.  Another thing to try is Benadryl (get the dose from your vet)  sometimes that takes "the edge" of the nerves away

good luck this is a hard one on you and the dog
