Question
dog
I have a 3 year old Staffordshire/Lab that is neutered. He jumps our 4 ft. chain link fence mostly when we are not home. He has been doing this for about a year or so. I have 3 acres so the underground type of dog fence wouldn't work. I have tried chaining him up when we are not around or keeping him inside the house. Sometimes when he has a potty break in the middle of the night, he doesn't return because of jumping the fence. We had another dog that grew up with him, a Shep/Chow that we just had to put down last week at the age of 14. So, he shouldn't have been bored during the day. What should I do with him? Other than that, he is very well behaved. Sits, stays (except jumping the fence) shakes paws, lays on back, potty trained. Thanks for your help.
AnswerOnce a dog learns it can jump a fence, I am afraid there is no training it out of it. You could extend the fence or add an electric wire to it. I recently saw a reference to http://www.coyoteroller.com/coyote_roller I have no idea how it would work. Some problems may not have a good solution.
