My German Shepherd
My German Shepherd
QUESTION: I have a German shepherd female who is 14 months old very healthy short hair, very hyper and feeds on Royal Canine dry food and also fresh food.
She did not get her heat period yet and i don't know what to do?
Her father is a champion. She does not have any over heat in temp and is well taken care of,is there something that i can do?

ANSWER: Hi
There are two things you can do:

One is to bring her around other female dogs that are in heat.  Do this every day for about two weeks.  If this doesn't work do it again with another female in hat.

Two you can bring her to a vet and let them give her a shot that stimulates the hormones so she will come into heat.

QUESTION: Does giving her that shot have any side effects on her?

Thank You
Your efforts are always appreciated

Answer
Hi,
Check with your vet on which medicine he is using and let me know and I will see what kind of side effects there is on that particular one.

I finally could open your picture,,,  She is beautiful,  she is chained,  If she is not getting enough exercise, that could be another reason for delayed heat.  Does she have shelter?  She looks good.
