jack russell pup, trying to get her to sleep

Question
we have a 10wk old jack russell. we have her two weeks only. she has slept in our room on her bed for 2 weeks. we have just placed her in utility tonight in her bed, she is barking and crying. is there any tips to help us.

Answer
Your pup's behavior is normal, Dympna. She is not used to being by herself yet. Try putting a radio near to the utility room (or in there if you can put it so she can't get to it or the cord) and turning it on at a low volume, so she doesn't feel so alone. You can also put an old shirt that you have worn all day on her bed so she can be comforted by your scent.

Give it time; she will eventually get used to it and will no longer bark and cry.

If you don't mind my asking, why have you moved her from your room to the utility room? Why can she not continue to stay in your bedroom?
