Question
Kristen;
I currently own two english springer spaniels the oldest is 3, fixed, and mostly an inside dog the other is almost 2 also fixed and mostly and inside dog.  My wife and I are expecting twins within the next month.  What is the best way to introduce the dogs to the new additions to the family.  Keep in mind these dogs are treated like our own.  Loved,exercised daily, fed plenty and all in all like our kids now.  Should I have any concerns?

Answer
How do the dogs behave around your current children, and other people's children, Wesley? If they are okay with kids in general, then you should have nothing to be worried about when you bring your twins home. The biggest thing is to try to keep the dogs' routine as close to the way it is now as possible, after the babies arrive. Too much of an upset in their daily routine can cause some anxiety, and the dogs >>may<< link that feeling of anxiety to the arrival of the babies. You don't want that. Try to keep them involved in the activities with the babies. Don't treat the babies as if they are 'off-limits,' but make sure that the dogs understand their boundaries.
