intestine problems?

Question
I have a 6yr old lab.  The past two days she's been outside in my sisters yard and when we got home last night her demeanor changed.  Her tail wasn't raising, she would walk around slowly I took her outside and she had a small regular bm.  when we got back inside I noticed that maybe every 4-5 breaths I could see her stomach contract real hard.  She slept fine last night (as far as I know because she didn't whine or wake me up) this morning she was real slow to go outside urinated but no bm.  I coulnd't tell if her stomach was still contracting but it looked a little bloated.  Her tail still hangs straight down and she licks her behind more than normal.

Answer
The symptoms you described could indicate a number of problems.  I recommend having her examined by your veterinarian.  She could be constipated, have eaten a foreign body (ball, stick, etc-- Labs eat everything), hurt her back, bloat, etc.  She will most likely need x-rays to evaluate her abdomen, and bloodwork.  Her tail hanging down indicates pain.  Sounds like she is very uncomfortable at the very least. Call your veterinarian to make an appt.
