Answer
Hi Tiffani,

There's no way to definitely say which breeds any mixed breed dog is related to, if you don't know the parents. I can only offer you a guess, the same as other people have done for you. For one thing, you're assuming that both of Bear's parents were pure bred dogs, while it's entirely possible that they too were mixed breed dogs.

Given Bear's short muzzle, the shape of his head and his jowls, I'd say he has some Boxer in him. It's also possible that Bear also has some Rottweiler in him, which could explain his large size, though a "poor specimen" of a Boxer can easily be larger than the breed standards. It's possible that your dog is a Boxer Labrador Retriever cross, which is known as a "Boxador". Not being a true dog breed, some Boxadors look more Lab, and others look like large Boxers.
Boxers and Rottweiler naturally have a long tail, and ears that look like Bear's. In the picture you sent, I couldn't see his tail, so I don't know if it's been cropped or not.

You can see pictures of these breeds here:

Whatever his heritage, Bear is a totally unique one-of-a-kind dog, and I'm sure he's loved dearly. Being a mixed breed, he's probably going to be healthier and longer lived than his purebred cousins.

I hope I've been a help.
Best of luck,

Patti
