old toy poodle with labrador puppy

Question
We have taken in my mothers 12 year old toy poodle, Darji.  He has always
been allowed on furniture, so we continued this.  We have always had large
dogs in the past and never allowed them on furniture.  We had a 10 year old
lab, Cody, when we got Darji, but he sadly died in Oct from a brain tumor.  
Though Darji jumped up on the couch, Cody was already trained not to.  We
are now getting another labrador in Feb.  He will only be 7.5 weeks old and I
want to know how it will be to not allow him on the furniture, even though
Darji is allowed to be.

Well what you can do with the puppy is to keep calling him over to you and give him a treat,when ever he goes to jump up on the couch

Just get him used to the idea that he will not be allowed on the couch,even if the poodle is allowed,another thing that is good is to train the puppy to sit in front of you when you are on the couch and pet him,that way he will not feel left out/jealous,and just keep on praising him when ever he just wants to sit near you,but not on the couch
