Buying my wife a dog for mothers day.

I have a question my wife is allergic to the dander that some dogs/cats carry. I want to get her this Chihuahua for Mothers Day. Its 500.00 but I dont want to pay that much and not be able to keep him. I was thinking since it was short haired that it wouldnt bother her that much. I guess my question is how much dander do Chihuahuas carry and is there anything I can do cleaning wise to prevent a reaction? My wife loves animals and she does so much for me I just want to get her the best Mothers Day present ever. PLEASE HELP.

Well,since Chihuahuas still shed,yes she would still have a reaction to it-and in fact many short haired dogs shed more

The type of dogs that she could have are the types that get haircuts and don't shed,such as yorkshire terriers,poodles,shi tzus and bichons

I do know someone that did get a shorhaired chihuahua,only to bring him back later,because of allergies-so your best bet would be to go for a non-shedding dog
