deaf puppy pottying in crate

Question
I have a deaf male boxer. I have had and rescued boxers my entire life. I have never really had this problem. My new puppys name is Bones, and I have had him since he was 8 weeks old. He is 7 months old now, and has already been neutered ( a month ago). He seems to go to the door when we are home to go outside , and he pottys outside. The second we leave him in his crate, he poops and pees in it. He even lays in it and spreads it around the crate. It becomes a huge mess, and is even starting to make me not like the dog. I am trying my hardest to overcome, but am looking for any information to help.
I have tried to leave him out in the house, and he was destructive. I have taken him outside, he goes potty right before I leave, ad then somehow goes again imediately after I leave.  He will poop in his crate within 30 minutes of me being gone, even if he goes right before I leave.
I know he is smart. He sits, and lyes down, and stays all on hand commands already. He is doing well when we are home. I am at my wits end on what to do for the times I have to leave him. There is nothing in his crate, and when there was; he would potty all over it as well. I never leave him for more than 3 hours at a time. I was told at the local pet store to make the crate just his size, and that has also been done. They said he would not go to the bathroom where he slept, but they were WRONG. He rolls in it. Please , please if anyone has any answers I would apprecite your input.
Thanks for your time in reading this.

Answer
Jessica...first of all..i think you should get your dog checked out by a vet since he should not have to go to the bathroom that much in that short amount of time. It sounds like you are doing everything right otherwise, except that since the dog cant hear praise, you need to be right there when he goes outside to pet him and let him know he did good. if the vet doesnt find anything wrong, look for a reputable behaviorist in your area...thanks and good luck
