Weimaraner loss of appetite

Question
My weimaraner is almost 4 years old. For the past month he has an increased decline in appetite. We took him to the vet after he was having diarrhea and was diagnosed with gastritis. It has been over 10 days since that diagnosis and medication treatment, and he still has a very small appetite for food. We practically have to hand feed him. He has had a panel of blood work done all came back fine. He was tested for giardia and that came back negative. He is not exhibiting any change in spunk and is definitely not lethargic, he just is not interested in food. There is no increase in thirst and his joints dare not painful nor is his abdomen when palpitated.
do you have any suggestions on what could be wrong with him or if there's anything that we and our vet are overlooking as a possible cause? thank you!

Answer
I would have him checked for whipworm; that can be difficult to diagnosis sometimes, and the symptoms can be quite similar. You must keep him eating at all costs. Some dogs eat better with warm water in their kibble, and some will eat better with a bit of canned food mixed in.

Hot weather will back a lot of dogs off of their food, too.
