Question
Hi Charlotte,

I have 4 beautiful dogs.  A seven yr old overweight Golden Retriever (female 95 pounds), a 3 yr old female pound puppy terrier mix (female 12 pounds), a 2 yr old poodle (male 4 pounds), and another pound puppy a 1 1/2  yr old flat coat retriever (male about 60 pounds I think)  They all eat Purina ONE weight management, for the oldest dog to lose weight and for the others to maintain weight.  They all eat each others food so I switched them all to the same.  My problem is the Flat coat retriever produces the most fowl gas EVER.  The other dogs  do not.  I need to know the BEST dog food for each of them.  None of them get fed table food, none have diarhea, none are vomitting, all are healthy and up to date on all shots.  Please share your insight

Thanks a bunch

Answer
Hi Angela;
I don't think is is the food you are feeding. some dogs just have a more pronounced gas problem, but you should check with your Veterinarian about this.
This could be a healh problem that taken care of now, could save the dog from later health problems that are more severe, and costly.
I do thinj they should not all be on the same food.
the agea are varied enough that they should be on different formulas.
the golden is old enough for a senior formula, and i would suggest a lamb and rice senior formula, for weight control.
the younger dogs need different nutrients to maintain proper health.
This gas problem could be a signal for something that may become more serious in the near or distant future.
I would get it checked right away, and make the Veterinarian aware of it.
