Another question re housetraining and also something to do for my Brittany

Question
I have a 8 and 1/2 month-old Brittany Spaniel. He recently had a urinary bladder infection which influenced his housetraining.  However, he got a clean bill of health from the vet. He is doing better--holds it in the crate and all night but in the evening when I am home he wants to go as often as 20 minutes. Our schedule is that he is crated between 3 and 8 p.m. I always give him water when I come home, and also walk him, so water is also given after--around 9 p.m.  Do you think the water is making him go so often?  He goes to bed around 10:30/11:00 p.m.
Also, do you have suggestions for something for a Brittany to do?  He is hyper, and seems to need a focus. Lately, I give him a large rawhide bone, which keeps him busy. (I take it away when it gets small). Thank you in advance.

Answer
You may want to reduce his access to water.  When you come home, let him drink his fill and maybe once or twice more before bed time.  If you walk him around when you take him out, he may urinate a second time and go longer then.

A dog can rip off a piece of rawhide and choke or have a blockage.  wore yet, it swells.  Best not give him rawhide, pigs ears, or other such natural products.  Put him to work.  if you haven't done obedience class, go ahead.  Once you have been through basic obedience, look at agility or Spaniel specific competition.  I am not sure if they are included in the earthing breeds.
